Bob Wooler
A man many consider the Godfather of Mersey Beat music, a legend in his own Cavern lunchtime. My first memories of Bob were at the lunchtime sessions at the Cavern club. The Beatles had taken their first steps on that long and winding road and Bob was still introducing the new wave of Mersey beat bands that followed the Beatles. Eventually he was succeeded as Cavern DJ by the up and coming Billy Butler. Billy was well known in Liverpool as lead vocalist for Billy Butler and the Tuxedos, and had achieved national fame as a judge on the weekly TV show, Thank Your Lucky Stars. I kept meeting Bob throughout the years and I remember him as a kind and witty person.
